Great Sailing Season

by dan on Nov.21, 2010, under Uncategorized

Well folks, the sailing season in Cleveland may be near it’s end. Today was an awesome day on the water and tomorrow looks great too but the weatherman says things go downhill fast after that. We don’t get much if any December sailing in, but there is aways a chance. So the FJ will remain on the trailer till Christmas juuuuuust in case. But I think I’ll cover up the rest of them this week. The new (old) Mutineer proved to be a great boat. A tow away last year that needed a ton of TLC (not to mention a few bucks) ended up being a very comfortable boat and surprisingly fast. He’ll get a paint job this winter and come out next spring looking good. Everything is in good solid working order and safe. The rudder build worked out super. Did a cedar core with a glass and epoxy skin. Dynamite combination for strength, weight and durability. Iggy over at Ullman Sails Cleveland made me a really sweet set of working sails. We’ll do a kite this winter. I’ll be needing a pole, so if anyone out there has one for a Mutineer or something near that size, (15 ft boat) let me know. Maybe we can help each other out. So hopefully we can sail a couple more days yet this year around here. Otherwise it’s down to South Carolina a couple times to visit friends and family and sail their waters this winter. Did ski center orientation at Chapin Forest yesterday which means cross country skiing soon. Looking forward to switching hats from sailing instructor to Nordic Ski instructor. Hope we have good snow this year. Got new skate skis I am just dying to try out!
